Ascend to the heart of Mexico!

5,636 m.a.s.l.

Obsidiana Travel

Discover the imposing beauty and adventurous spirit of Citlaltépetl, better known as Pico de Orizaba, the highest mountain in Mexico and the third highest in North America.

A Colossus of Volcanic Origin

Pico de Orizaba is an inactive stratovolcano located on the border between the states of Veracruz and Puebla. Its Nahuatl name, "Citlaltépetl," means "Star Mountain," a name that evokes its snow-capped summit, which often rises above the clouds like a celestial beacon. At 5,636 meters (18,491 feet) above sea level, this mountain not only dominates the landscape but also presents an exciting challenge for climbers from around the world.

Natural Beauty and Biodiversity

The slopes of Pico de Orizaba are home to a rich variety of ecosystems, from temperate and cloud forests in the lower reaches to alpine meadows and rocky areas near the summit. This diversity of altitudes and climates allows for the existence of unique flora and fauna, including endemic species found only in this region. Exploring its trails offers spectacular panoramic views and the opportunity to connect with nature in its purest form.
