The Matlalcueye (Nahuatl: "Owner of the green skirt")
Better known as La Malinche or Malintzin, it is located between the states of Tlaxcala and Puebla, Mexico. At 4,420 meters above sea level, it is the fifth highest mountain in Mexico. Part of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, it is a seismically active volcano and is estimated to have formed 25 million years ago.
Natural Beauty and Biodiversity
One of Mexico's oldest volcanic features, this ancient guardian of Mexico is vital to the water sources of Tlaxcala and Puebla and home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including unique species found nowhere else. From colorful birds like the cinnamon hummingbird and the Mexican hummingbird, to curious mammals like the three-banded bat and agile birds like the wren, every corner of La Malinche will amaze you.

One-day ascent - IMSS Vacation Center Route
Day 1
4:30 am - Departure from Mexico City to Tlaxcala (Approximate travel time of 2:30 hrs)
7:00 am - Arrival at La Malinche National Park. Brief briefing about the site and hiking guidelines. Once ready, we'll begin our adventure!
12:00 pm - Approximate summit time and time for photographs.
4:00 pm - Return to the parking lot. Lunch at Malintzi Restaurant.
9:00 pm: Approximate return to Mexico City
*The program may change according to expedition parameters, weather and group adaptation.
